Leah Chase's Butter Cake
Leah Chase is a famous chef in New Orleans; she owns the restaurant called Dooky Chase. She grew up in the country and her baking is deeply rooted in the 1920's and 30's. Leah's family baked this pound cake for visitors on Christmas. The confectioners sugar yields a soft crumb and gives the cake a crisp crust.
My Experience:
This cake recipe only has 6 steps and 6 ingredients. The eggs do not even have to be separated. Even better, it tasted really good and had a nice texture. I ear marked this one as a solid choice for a quick and easy cake to put together in a pinch. It is also a great recipe to use when your kids want to bake with you:)
Neighbor Comments:
"That is really really yummy. Gonna throw some vanilla ice cream on it and eat the rest tonight."
"It's pretty dang good."
"K, this is my favorite cake, like I am not even sharing with my husband this time." Next morning: " I am so mad, last night our dog ate the rest of my cake! In the middle of the night, he jumped up on my bed smacking his lips and when I got downstairs in the morning the container was on the ground with crumbs all over the floor!"
