Tres Leches Cake
In the 1940's, Nestle opened an evaporated milk manufacturing plant in Mexico, and a recipe for the cake was on the label of those cans. The popularity of this cake in America may be linked to the country's increasing Hispanic population. Tres Leches is named for the syrup of three milks- whole milk, evaporated milk, and sweetened condensed milk- that is spooned onto a baked butter or sponge cake.
My Experience:
There are 4 parts to this cake; the cake, the milk syrup, the whipped cream, and the fruit. Each of these parts are quick. Once the cake part is done, the milk syrup gets poured on top. The cake goes into chill for 2 hours while the cream gets whipped and the fruit gets cut.
This cake is very moist and fresh. It is my mom's favorite. She asked me to make it again for her birthday celebration. This cake is for sure top 5 out of the book.
