John Egerton's Pound Cake
John Edgerton wrote a cookbook in 1987 called Southern Food. He was a Southern scholar of history, civil rights, race, and food. He traveled the South extensively and wrote about the people and the food. He used to say about this cake, "A warm slice is special."
My Experience:
Pound cakes are simple to make. The only difference with this one is that it uses heavy cream. I thought this cake was decent, but I actually preferred some of the earlier pound cakes that I made from this book. I could not find a good link for this recipe, so I did not include it. I would much rather make the Cold Oven Pound Cake again.
I also have no neighbor's comments on this one.
